Bedrock

Jeff and I went to Moab for a few days.   This is the second time I have gone to Moab and I always feel like Wilma Flinstone because it looks like Bedrock with all of the beautiful red rock mountains all around.  On our way done there we stopped in Price at this wonderful restaurant my parents and I discovered right before Ben was born.  My mom was born in Price and lived there until she was 12 so she has fond memories of the town.  So when my parents were hanging out at my house waiting for Ben to be born, we took a little drive to Price so my mom could see her old hometown and we found this restaurant called Big Moe’s.  It has the best hamburger I have ever tasted.  The buns were even homemade.  

On the first day we were there, I hiked while Jeff rode his bike on Slickrock. 

 

Hiking in Moab is so fun.  When you look around you feel like you are in a totally different country because it is such a different site that you have every seen before.  You have excellent traction and feel so secure when going up or down steep hills.  It was very windy and a little chilly that day so I kept Ben all nice and warm in his front pack.

Ben got a brand new onsie. 

On the next day we went to Bartlett Wash.  Jeff got to hike with Ben and I rode the bike.

I have tendonitis in my right wrist and I am trying to get it to heal so I couldn’t be as daring as I wanted to be.   Jeff is such a sweetheart because he walked the bike (and carried Ben and the backpack) when I didn’t want to ride on the hard parts.  It was so fun to bike on the rock.  I felt so cool.  So I asked Jeff to take a picture of me and this is what I looked like and I didn’t feel so cool after seeing how lame I look biking.

 I could have at least had a cute tight biking outfit on.  Oh well.

We stopped for lunch on the hike and took some cute pictures of Ben.

 

I love this picture!  We put a onsie on his head because we weren’t sure if the sun screen was going to keep him from getting a little sunburned.  Jeff went over to take our picture and then Ben put his arm on my arm like he was totally posing.  What a cutie.

Jeff hiked to the top of Mount Nebo a few weeks ago with some friends and he took the camera and took this beautiful picture below. This is a view I will never see for myself because I could never (nor do I want to) hike to the top of Mount Nebo. Here he is with his ice pick.

Ben had carrots today for the first time. He loved them in case you can't tell from the picture.

Mr. Photogenic! Doesn't his smile just melt your heart?

His Grandma Young was here for a few days and bought him this cute hiking turtle. He loves it....especially the shoe laces. He likes to chew on them.

Smiling is what we do

I've been a little busy. Ben and I have been doing a lot of smiling. That is what we do all day long. My cheeks are exhausted from so much smiling. But man, I feel pretty good inside because of all of this smiling I have been doing. You should give it a try.

Photography

Ben and Erica received darling sweaters from their Aunt Nickie's family for Christmas and so it is photo shoot time because they look so absolutely cute. But getting a good picture of a baby takes patience. Even getting a good picture of a silly 8 year old takes time too. So here it goes. Ben looks a little uncomfortable. Erica had to take off her glasses. Ben looks VERY uncomfortable. Let's try the floor. Erica looks like she is on Nyquil or something.Let's try another blanket. Oops, Ben looked away. Ben is looking now, but Erica just remembered she has her glasses on. A little better but Ben looks like he is trying to tell us something. Aaah, very cute. Yeah! I got one. This is my favorite.

My little hiker

Erica has a goal to hike to the top of Timpanoogas with her dad some day. So Jeff has been taking Erica on hikes to the "Y" lately. I personally think she is pretty amazing for hiking to the "Y."I did it once a few years ago and I barely made it to the "Y." Then I tried it last week with Ben in a front pack all by myself one morning (because I'm trying to lose this baby fat) and I couldn't make it. This is a picture of Erica with her Grandpa Anderson, Uncle Steve and Jeff (doesn't it look like Jeff has a swimming cap on. :) He swears it is a hat to keep your head warm while you are biking and it was all he could find that morning.) They hiked to the "Y" with no problem but then they kept going higher and higher and made it up past the "Y" quite a ways. Isn't she a tough woman? I want to be like her.
